Salem4youth is located in a very rural setting. Our young men are exposed to agriculture on a daily basis, most for the first time in their lives. We have 18+ acres of field corn, 34+ acres of alfalfa, and several acres of pastureland, in addition to our horse and cattle program.
In Deuteronomy 26:2 the Bible commands: “You shall take some of the firstfruits of all that you produce from the soil of the land the Lord your God is giving you and put them in a basket. Then go to the place the Lord your God will choose as a dwelling for His name.”
We believe that Salem4youth is a place that the Lord has “chosen to dwell.” Each day we see the Lord work in the lives of our young men. First Fruits 4 Youth…Planting Hope is a way that men and women involved in agriculture can donate the yields from an acre/s, bushels or even cattle to help us continue the work we are doing with the young men in our care.
We invite donors to come and visit Salem4youth and see what the Lord is doing in the lives of our young men. We also would like to bring our guys out and visit your farming operation so that they can meet the men and women who feed America. They would be encouraged by meeting the folks who believe in them enough to invest their “firstfruits” in their healing process. In the fall we would also like to give our young men the opportunity to ride along with you on your combine as you harvest. We want our donors to be able to meet the young men they are helping.
There are a few ways growers can help us with the work we are doing. First, by investing in the work through the gift of grain. When you take your grain to the elevator you can designate bushels for Salem4youth. Salem4youth is a 501 c3 organization and we will send the elevator any pertinent information they need. Second, if you would prefer to invest with a monetary gift that represents your “first fruit” we will also send you a tax receipt for that amount. Finally, we would like to provide a First Fruits field sign for those growers who decide to be a part of our program. Field signs promoting First Fruits will build curiosity, the kind of curiosity that can result in a brighter future for the young men we serve.
